Tyner Cornbread and Beans

The Cleveland County Democratic Party will host their Tyner Cornbread and Beans luncheon on Friday November 13, 2009. The featured speaker will be Representative Al McAffrey, House District 88 representative.

The son of a Baptist minister, Al grew up in Sulphur, Oklahoma.  After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served as a Navy Corpsman.  When he returned to Oklahoma he joined the Oklahoma City Police Department.  He has owned and managed several small businesses and he currently runs OK Cremation and Mortuary Services.

Representative McAffrey was sworn into the Oklahoma House of Representatives on the State’s Centennial birthday, November 16, 2006. An enthusiastic Democrat, he has worked for affordable health care, improvement in public education and more compassionate state approach to care for senior citizens.

Al is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral and active in the Mesta Park Neighborhood Association. He is a voting member of the Choctaw Tribe and an active member of the Diversity Business Association.

The location of the luncheon has changed.  It will be held at the Olive Garden Restaurant on I-35. Lunch for this event begins at 11:30 AM with the speaker beginning about noon.  Guests will order from the Olive Garden lunch menu.    The meeting is open to the public.

Main Street Office Needs

It's great to have our office now open, but we still need a couple of items to complete the furnishings.  We thought we'd check with our members before making any purchases.  We need a screen 36" - 46" long and at least 28" high. We also need a dorm sized refrigerator with a small freezer compartment.

Main Street Office Now Open Monday - Friday 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. -Closed on Labor Day

Our newly refurbished main street office is now open Monday - Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. , but we will be closed on Labor Day, September 7th.  Please stop by and check out our new headquarters!   While you are here, please sign up to volunteer at the office for a couple of hours each week to help turn Cleveland County Blue!   We are also still accepting donations to help support our main street presence.
“For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”
