Tyner Cornbread and Beans
The Cleveland County Democratic Party will host their Tyner Cornbread and Beans luncheon on Friday December 4, 2009. The featured speaker will be Roosevelt Milton, County Director of the Oklahoma County Department of Human Services. He will speak on, “One-hundred Years of Struggle: Judging People on the Content of Their Character”.
The location of the luncheon is the Olive Garden Restaurant on I-35. Lunch for this event begins at 11:30 AM with the speaker beginning about noon. Guests will order from the Olive Garden lunch menu. The meeting is open to the public.

Volunteers Needed for Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 12th
We are looking for volunteers to help with our entry into this year's Christmas Parade. We want to build on our past successes by investing in some new float designs that will dazzle our audience. We'd also like to incorporate some messages about everyone's right to affordable health care. By participating, we will send a message that we are still here and will not be intimidated by the recent vandalism to our office. 447-3366
Main Street Office Needs
It's great to have our office now open, but we still need a couple of items to complete the furnishings. We thought we'd check with our members before making any purchases. We need a screen 36" - 46" long and at least 28" high. We also need a dorm sized refrigerator with a small freezer compartment.

Our newly refurbished main street office is now open Monday - Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. , but we will be closed on Labor Day, September 7th. Please stop by and check out our new headquarters! While you are here, please sign up to volunteer at the office for a couple of hours each week to help turn Cleveland County Blue! We are also still accepting donations to help support our main street presence.

Cleveland County Democrats Banquet
Awards Banquet Activist Award Winners Announced
We'd like to give a great big thank you to everyone who helped make our 3rd Annual Awards Banquet such an outstanding success. We especially thank our our main event organizer, Donna Russell and auction organizer, Connie Alagood as well as Joyce Collard, Adam Gleason, Lux Bhakta and Bette Maffucci (my apologies to anyone I left out). Cal Hobson was our emcee and was incredibly funny as only Cal can be. Also demonstrating previously unknown comedic talents were Governor David Walters, Attorney General Drew Edmonson, Senator John Sparks, Representative Joe Dorman, and our Distinguished Democrat Award Winner, Ben Odom. Our activist award winners included Larry and Roswitha Allin for their ongoing contributions to the Central Committee meetings and supportive presence at all events; Jean Risenhoover for her design and decoration of our county fair booth and participation at many activities; and Connie Alagood for her unstinting leadership in all events especially our auctions. We raised lots of money on the auction and fabulous time was had by all!
